The 2023 Asia Cup will be the 16th edition of the continental championship, with matches contested as One Day Internationals (ODIs), as a preparation run for teams who qualified for the 2023 Cricket World Cup, which begins from October 5 in India. The event is scheduled to be held from August 30 to September 17, 2023.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will co-host the six-team competition, making it the first Asia Cup to be jointly hosted by multiple countries. Four matches will take place in Pakistan, while the remaining nine will take place in Sri Lanka.

The event will feature Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Nepal, who qualified after winning the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup, would join them to make their Asia Cup debut. Furthermore, the tournament was originally slated to take place in 2021, however because of the Covid-19 epidemic, it was postponed to 2023.

Bangladesh is in Group B with defending champions Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, India, Pakistan, and Nepal are all in Group A. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage. Following their matches in the Super Four Stage, the top two teams will advance to the summit clash, which will be contested at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo on September 17.
