The Ashes 2023 continued its breathtaking action as England got all out for 237 on Day 2 of the third Test at Headingley, Leeds. As a result, Australia got a lead of 26 runs in the first innings and openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja walked out to the middle to get their team off to a good start in the second innings. As the Australian innings began, all eyes were once again fixed on the much-awaited battle between Warner and Stuart Broad.

The duo faced off in the third over of the innings and Warner started the battle with a dot ball. After a quiet start, Warner’s nightmarish run continued as he edged the second ball to Zak Crawley at second slip before walking back to the pavilion with a wry smile on his face.

Broad was spotted jubilantly running towards the western terrace, having gotten rid of Warner for a record 17th time in his Test career. Notably, the southpaw fell prey to Broad in the first innings as well in the very first over of the match as he edged one straight to Crawley at second slip. The Australian opener has been dismissed by Broad thrice in the six innings of the series so far.

The English seamer began tormenting Warner in the 2019 Ashes where he managed to send him back to the pavilion seven times out of ten innings. Back that time, Warner could only manage to score 95 runs in the series at a poor average of 9.5.

Warner moves to third spot in the list of most dismissals against one bowler

Meanwhile, following his dismissal in the second innings, Warner is now ranked on the third spot in the unwanted list of getting dismissed most times by a particular bowler. He joined former England batter Michael Atherton on third place, who was dismissed 17 times by both Sir Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh. Notably, Atherton also takes the top spot in the list having fallen prey to Glenn McGrath 19 times in his Test career.
