Marnus Labuschagne scored a spectacular century against England in the ongoing fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford, Manchester. He registered his first fifty in the series in the first innings but failed to convert it into a three-figure score. In the second innings, however, the right-handed batter showed immense composure and notched up his 11th hundred in the purest format of the game, the first in seven months.
Australia were trailing England’s first-innings lead by 162 runs, when play on Day 4 started after a long rain delay. Labuschagne, who began the day on 44, converted his start into a special hundred and helped Australia get out of a precarious position.
His epic knock of 111 runs in 173 balls ended when he edged a delivery from Joe Root to wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow. England appealed confidently but umpire Nitin Menon was unmoved. The home team reviewed almost immediately and Ultraedge showed a big spike. Marnus Labuschagne didn’t walk after edging the ball and this didn’t sit well with the English fans. They booed the 29-year-old batter after watching the replays.
Is there ANYTHING this man can’t do!?

Australia trail by 61 runs with five wickets in hand
Pat Cummins’ men won the first two Tests but England bounced back at Headingley to get on the board. The coveted Ashes urn is with Australia and a draw will be enough for them to retain it. The hosts, however, have to win this Test and the following one in London to reclaim the urn.
A lot of action was taken away due to rain on Day 4 and the weather doesn’t look promising for Day 5 as well. Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh will resume batting on Day 5, with their team trailing by 61 runs with five wickets to spare. England will be hoping that rain stays away as they are in a great position to win the Test and keep the series alive.
