The release marked the return of RTM (Right To Match) option for franchisees, in addition to up to six retentions being allowed. While only three to four retentions were expected, the additional allowance means that Chennai Super Kings star MS Dhoni may be picked up by the franchise for yet another season, interestingly enough, as an uncapped player.
