The ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 is rapidly approaching, and with the world’s biggest cricket tournament all set to begin on October 5, the excitement for the event is at an all-time high among the fans. The best of the best teams in world cricket will be taking on each other in the marquee tournament, and with the fans waiting for the competition to kick off, the ICC (International Cricket Council) came forward to hype up the event even more.

Recently, the ICC shared a post on social media where Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan was captured alongside the World Cup trophy. The mysterious post shared no context whatsoever. However, the situation started to clear up after the ICC shared a promo for the upcoming World Cup.

In the video, hyping up the World Cup, Shahrukh Khan can be heard as the voice for the promo. The video featured some of the iconic moments from the many editions of the event. From the heartbreaks to the joys, from Kapil Dev’s title win to MS Dhoni hitting the winning six in 2011.

“History will be written and dreams will be realized at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. All it takes is just one day,” the ICC captioned the post.

The video showcased the importance of ‘Pride, Passion, Anguish, Bravery, Respect, Power, Joy, Wonder, and Glory.’

England take on New Zealand in season opener

With the World Cup 2023 all set to begin on October 5, the season opener will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the finalists of the 2019 edition, England and New Zealand, facing each other in the first game of the tournament.

The Indian team will kick off their tournament in Chennai, where they take on Australia on October 8. Furthermore, the much anticipated India-Pakistan clash will be played in Ahmedabad as well on October 15.

England, coming into the competition as the defending champions, will be keen on defending their title in the challenging sub-continent conditions. With India hosting the proceedings, it could also be interesting to see whether or not the Rohit Sharma-led side will be able to break their ICC jinx.
