The Indian team is all set to continue their ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia. Both sides will lock horns in the second Test of the series at the Adelaide Oval from December 6. It is worth noting that the Adelaide Test will be a pink ball Test, and there could be some changes made to the squad as compared to the first Test.

Talking about the same, former India cricketer Ravi Shastri came forward and talked about how the Indian team should look to keep pacer Akash Deep in the mix for the Adelaide Test. Shastri also reflected on how the pink ball often seams more than the red ball, which could see India opt for Akash Deep instead of Harshit Rana.

“The only thing that you must remember, is this is a pink-ball Test. I know Harshit Rana did very well in that Test match, but the pink ball with extra lacquer, it’s a little harder and might seam around a bit and swing. (That’s) where I think Akash Deep should be in the mix,” Shastri said on the ICC Review.

“Now when you reach the ground, you see the conditions, [whether] you opt for extra bounce and pace, that’s your choice. But I’d definitely keep him (Akash Deep) in that 12 and keep an eye on him,” Shastri further added.

India look to keep up stellar form

The Indian team managed to register a magnificent win in Perth. For the first Test, Australia and India locked horns at the Optus Stadium, and after a subpar performance in the first innings of the clash by both sides, it was the Indian team that dominated in the second innings.

After centuries by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli, India posted a target of 534 runs for the Aussies to chase. Furthermore, the hosts were bundled out for a score of 238 runs as India won the first Test of the series by a whopping 295 runs. With the second Test approaching, India will hope to put in another good showing and further gain advantage.
