Skipper of the Mumbai team and star Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane, recently uploaded a heartfelt message for the various stakeholders involved in the initiation and the actualization of a cricket academy he has set up in Mumbai.
Although the specifics in relation to the establishment weren’t disclosed by the winning skipper of the 2024 edition of the Ranji Trophy, Rahane thanked the treasurer of the BCCI, Ashish Shelar, and the chief ministers’ panel for the state of Maharashtra for lending a supportive hand in turning his dream to reality.

Although the academy built by Rahane might not be as expansive as compared to the freshly-built new National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, it’s surely slated to cater to the youngsters of Mumbai and enhance their technical and all-round expertise of the game.
Rahane to lead Mumbai in Irani Cup
In other news, the Ashwi-KD-born Rahane will next be seen in action at the Irani Cup 2024-25, where the cricketer will be captaining Mumbai in a trophy match against Rest of India. He will be joined by India cricketers, Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur, who will together boost the team composition by a substantial lot. The game will be held at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium from October 01.

Speaking of his recent outings, Rahane had represented Leicestershire in the One-Day Cup. He scored a total of 378 runs in 10 innings. Out of the three first-class games he has played in the second division of the County Championship up until now, his best outing was against Glamorgan. He scored 42 and 102, respectively.
