Star India batter Jemimah Rodrigues will be playing her first-ever Women’s Caribbean Premier League season this year. The energetic batter was roped in by the Trinbago Knight Riders Women, with their season commencing on August 23 against Barbados Royal Women.

With less than a week left for the carnival to commence, Jemimah posted an Instagram story where she could be seen smiling in a selfie captured with former India and Delhi Capitals Women teammate, Shikha Pandey, as well as ex-Indian stalwart, Jhulan Goswami, the mentor of TKR.

The caption on the story read Agla (next) Station: West Indies. See you soon TKR.”

With Shreyanka Patil being the first Indian to take part in the WCPL, having represented the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women in 2023, Jemimah and Shikha will be the additions to the list of Indians inducted in the CPL.

I’m really excited that I’ll be representing the Knight Riders in the WCPL: Jemimah

After getting freshly appointed by the Knight Riders, Jemimah’s excitement was palpable as she reflected on her experience of playing in the Caribbean while representing the nation, as well as touched upon the heritage the franchise has when it comes to domestic tournaments all across.

“This is the first time I’ll be coming to the WCPL. I’ve played for India in the Caribbean quite a bit, but I’m really excited that I’ll be representing the Knight Riders in the WCPL. We all know the legacy that they have across the globe,” Jemimah was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
