Afghanistan vs Australia, ODI World Cup 2023, Match 39: Stats Preview of Players’ Records and Approaching Milestones

Australia (AUS) and Afghanistan (AFG) are set to face each other in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Afghanistan have been putting up impressive performances in the tournament and are strong contenders for a semi-final spot. In their last match, Afghanistan defeated the Netherlands by seven wickets. In the bowling department, Nabi took three wickets, and Noor Ahmad claimed two, which resulted in the Netherlands being bowled out for just 179 runs. While chasing the target, Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah both scored half-centuries. Rahmat contributed 52 runs, and Hashmatullah added 56 runs. Towards the end, Omarzai played a power-hitting cameo, scoring 31 runs, which helped seal the match with a seven-wicket victory.

On the other hand, Australia are in red-hot form after losing their first two matches and have emerged as strong contenders for the semi-finals. In their last match, the Kangaroos defeated England by 33 runs. In the batting department, Labuschagne scored a half-century, amassing 71 runs, and Green added 47 runs. Towards the end, Zampa played a power-hitting cameo, contributing 29 runs in 19 balls, helping Australia set a total of 286 runs. In the bowling department, Zampa once again took three wickets, while the other three pacers, Starc, Hazlewood, and Cummins, each secured two wickets, collectively contributing to sealing the match with a 33-run victory.

Both teams will be eager to win this match to stay in the tournament and compete for a spot in the semi-finals.
