Afghanistan star cricketer Rashid Khan meets Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in New York

Rashid Khan is one of the finest spinners in world cricket at the moment. The Afghan spinner has played five Tests, 94 ODIs, and 82 T20Is so far in his career and picked up 34, 172, and 130 wickets, respectively. He became a household name with his exploits in the Indian Premier League, where he has 134 wickets in 109 games and won the title once with Gujarat Titans in 2022.

The 24-year-old is currently in New York after representing Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2023. Hashmatullah Shahidi’s men lost in the first round after suffering consecutive defeats against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Rashid also had a below-par Asia Cup by his lofty standards as he picked up two wickets in the two games at an average of 64.50 and an economy rate of 6.45.

During his time in New York, the talismanic leg-spinner bumped into Bollywood’s superstar couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The lovebirds are enjoying a vacation in New York with their daughter, Raha, and have kept their fans updated with pictures from the same. Last week, they were seen at the women’s final of the US Open, where Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam title by defeating Aryna Sabalenka.

Rashid shared a picture on his Instagram account after meeting the two celebrities and called them Bollywood’s biggest stars. Ranbir was seen putting his arm around the ace cricketer and pointing towards him.

“With Bollywood’s biggest (star emoji). It was lovely to meet you Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt,” Rashid captioned on his Instagram handle.

Rashid Khan will hope for a strong comeback in India in upcoming ODI World Cup

The impending 2023 ODI World Cup is less than three weeks away. Afghanistan are one of the 10 teams participating in the tournament and they would be hoping to learn from their mistakes in the Asia Cup 2023 and come back as a much stronger side.

Rashid’s performance will be key, not only with the ball but also with the bat in hand. He has played some exhilarating knocks in international cricket as well as in franchise leagues. An in-form Rashid can inspire Afghanistan to produce some noteworthy results against some of the more experienced teams in world cricket.
