AFG vs PNG: Rashid Khan tries spoiling Fazalhaq Farooqi’s post-match interview in hilarious moment

null

Afghanistan are having a dream run in the T20 World Cup having won three games on a trot and qualifying for the Super 8 stages. Their standout victory came against New Zealand as they outclassed Kiwis by 84 runs. Their latest win against Papua New Guinea sealed their playoff berth with one game to go. Fazalhaq Farooqi, who was the Player of the Match, was ecstatic and his skipper Rashid Khan was involved in a telepathic banter.

As Farooqi walked in to receive the Player of the Match award, Rashid quickly made it to the cameramen’s space. While the pacer started delivering his talk, the spinner was seen intimidating him from behind the cameras. Farooqi was irked by Rashid’s antics and even asked him to stay mum amidst his talk. Talking about his performance, the left-arm pacer claimed three wickets giving away just 16 runs to lead his team to a seven-wicket win on June 13 against Papua New Guinea.

“I want to congratulate people of Afghanistan for qualifying to the Super 8, I think we’ve played some good cricket. I was in the IPL, unfortunately I didn’t get a game, so I came here and gave myself the strength to come and perform. I have two plans while bowling – just get wickets if there’s any swing or seam, if there’s no movement, I just bowl in the right areas and keep it simple. We just need to give our 100% and do our best (in the Super 8),” said Farooqi in the post-match presentation.

Here’s the video of Rashid-Farooqi banter:

Group C has found its two qualifications

While Afghanistan and the West Indies have made it to the Super 8 stage from Group C of the T20 World Cup 2024, New Zealand’s elimination has come as a shocker to many. Both Afghanistan and West Indies have been unbeaten in the group stage so far as New Zealand have failed to win any in their two games.
