Afghanistan are all set to host Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series in November 2024, the confirmation of which was made by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Sunday, September 29 via their official website. As per the schedule, all the matches will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but the venues haven’t been finalized as yet.

It is important to note that the two teams were interested in three T20Is and a couple of Test matches as well in addition to the ODIs, however, mutual agreements were made to go ahead with the 50-over leg only, keeping the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in mind.

As per the rescheduled fixture, the series will start on November 06 for the first ODI, followed by the second on November 09. Lastly, the third encounter will be held on November 11 to draw curtains on the tour.

Afghanistan’s stunning recent form

In 2024, the Afghans have become a force to be reckoned with, and teams have started preparing differently against the Asian nation. Firstly, the side progressed to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024, their first knockout match in an ICC tournament, which they eventually lost to South Africa. However, Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side hosted the Proteas in Sharjah recently for three 50-over matches.

Unlikely to everyone’s expectations, the hosts went on to beat South Africa by a 2-1 margin, marking a historic addition in their young international existence.
