Travis Head opened up on his brilliant opening partnership with Abhishek Sharma in the tournament so far. After the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, April 15, Head won the player of the match award for his brilliant knock. The Southpaw spoke about batting with Abhishek during the post-match conference.

The duo put on yet another 100-run stand as they smashed 108 runs in the first eight overs. While Abhishek perished after scoring 34(22), Head continued and went on to smash the fourth-fastest IPL ton. The Australian batter scored 102 runs in 41 balls which included nine fours and eight sixes. His ton came off just 39 balls.

Speaking about the nature of the surface, the 2023 ODI WC winner claimed that the surface was too good to bat on. Head added that there were inputs from the groundsmen about the surface which helped them to adapt to the conditions. The SRH batter claimed that they had all the license in the world to go after the bowlers.

I’m loving batting with him – Travis Head

“The surface played beautifully. We did get feedback from the groundsmen. We thought we had to adapt in the opening six overs. But we had the batting order and they had the license to after the bowlers,” said Head as quoted by India Today.

SRH smashed 287 runs against RCB, which is now the record for the highest team total in IPL history.

He further touched upon batting alongside Sharma. Head felt that he and Abhishek complement each other well. The star batter added that they help each other to gain confidence and love batting together. “Abhishek (Sharma) and I complement each other very well. We feed off each other’s confidence. I’m loving batting with him,” added Head.

Among all the teams in the IPL, SRH appears to have one of the best batting lineups. The trio of Abhishek, Head, and Heinrich Klaasen has been the main reason behind SRH’s good run in the league so far. All three of them feature in the list of top 15 batters with the most runs in the ongoing league.
