The IPL 2025 has started and though there are going to be many young generation players who will feature in the tournament, there will also be some veterans in the game as well. Though it is Adam Gilchrist who is the oldest player to score a century in the IPL, it is time to discuss who is the oldest player to score a century among the current veterans in this current edition.

Some of these players have been playing the tournament from its initial stages and have continued to score runs for their teams. These are the players who have proven to the fans and the pundits that age is just a number, and they can continue to contribute with the bat even though they are not really in the prime of their careers anymore. A century is still a rare landmark in the shortest format, and these are the players who have managed to achieve this feat. Some of them also have IPL Orange Cap to their name previously.

This was a terrible season for the Mumbai Indians, and this was one of the rare matches of the year that went their way. The MI bowlers managed to restrict them to a score of 173 and this is where Suryakumar Yadav continued his assault on the Hyderabad bowlers and scored 102 off just 51, and it came at a time when the team was struggling at 31-3. The ace batter’s astonishing knock included a dozen of boundaries and six sixes, and was 33 years old at the time.

The cricketer is still part of the MI squad and is one of their star batters. He will be leading the team in the opening fixture of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to Hardik Pandya being banned due to his slow-over rate offence last season.

4. Marcus Stoinis (34y 251d)

Marcus Stoinis was one of the most important and effective players for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2024 season. He proved the reputation he holds especially in T20 cricket in the game against CSK in the 2024 edition. This game was played in Chennai and CSK had put up a big total on the board. Just as the game was looking like going CSK’s way Stoinis played a match-winning innings of 124 off just 63 deliveries to win the game for his side with just three balls to spare. This also made him one of the oldest centurions for LSG scoring that century at the age of 34.

The Australian all-rounder was not retained by the Lucknow-based franchise ahead of the 2025 season and was bought by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 11 crore at the auction. This is also the first franchise Stoinis played for in the IPL back in 2016, and he will want to make the most of this re-union with the team going into the tournament.

The 2024 season was one of the greatest comebacks from RCB and another prolific season for Virat Kohli who won his second Orange Cap that season. Though this century came in a losing cause, it was still an incredible innings from the Bengaluru side’s veteran batter, who scored an amazing 113 off 72 deliveries in the match against RR at the age of 35 years and 153 days.

Kohli has now become the only player to represent the same franchise for all 18 seasons. He had a great first game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he scored an unbeaten half-century while chasing down the target of 175 set by the defending champions. RCB won the game by seven wickets in the end.

The 2024 season was a dream event for Sunil Narine who scored runs at the top and took wickets in the middle as well. Though this was another century that came in a losing cause, the innings from Narine could not be ignored. This was his maiden century in the tournament where he scored 109 off just 56 deliveries with 13 fours and six sixes to his name and is the second oldest to score a century out of the current players completing the milestone at the age of 35 and 326 days.

The Caribbean all-rounder was one of the retained players for KKR for the 2025 season and this is currently his 14th year representing the franchise. He had scored 44 runs and finished with economical figures of 1/27 in his full quota of four overs in the opening game against RCB of the current season.

Though it was not the best of seasons for the Mumbai Indians (MI) the fans still witnessed a remarkable innings from him. Rohit brought up his second IPL century in the game against CSK, scoring 105 off 63 deliveries and kept the team in the game. He also became the third-oldest MI player to score a century at 36 years and 350 days and the oldest to be featuring in the upcoming 2025 season as well.
