The IPL 2025 is set to begin, but there has been some terrible news for some franchises, who will be missing some big players in the upcoming tournament. The Delhi Capitals (DC) are the team who have suffered a big blow with the withdrawal of Harry Brook from the tournament.
Harry Brook has chosen to give importance to the England side and has chosen not to be a part of the tournament. Harry Brook also seemed to be in the plans for the squad. Brook is one of the biggest upcoming talents in the cricketing world. It will be interesting to see who could be the perfect replacement for him who can take his place in the Delhi Capitals squad going forward in the upcoming tournament starting from March 22.
Here are the three possible replacements for Harry Brook in the Delhi Capitals squad:
3. Dewald Brevis

Dewald Brevis is regarded as one of the upcoming, gifted, talented batters from South Africa, and after being released by the Mumbai Indians, he surprisingly went unsold in the auction. The Capitals are known to back young players in the IPL, and they might try to get the 21-year-old star into the mix.
Brevis might not have shown a great level of success in the IPL during his stint with the Mumbai Indians, but he has fairly decent numbers in T20 Cricket batting in the middle order. Though his average is slightly on the lower side, he has still maintained a strike rate of 144.93 and has had a good SA20 season as well.

2. Matthew Short

The reason the Capitals might pick Matthew Short is not only because he can be that extra bowling option within the team but also because he is capable of batting at any position he is given. Short can easily fit within the DC lineup with what he has shown in his career, and Kotla will be a ground that will suit him a lot as well.
This will also be a great opportunity for Short to make a comeback after an abysmal IPL season in 2023. Short has also given great performances for Australia in T20Is, where he has a strike rate of over 160 and has taken seven wickets in the 14 matches he has played so far, and he will look to make the same impact in the tournament.
1. Sarfaraz Khan

This could be a surprising choice from the franchise, considering Sarfaraz Khan has not got a great record in the IPL but his performance in domestic cricket and short stint of playing for India in Test matches has impressed a lot of people which could attract the franchise towards getting him in as a replacement for Harry Brook.
Sarfaraz can play the aggressive nature game and has played 96 T20s so far. He has played for the Capitals before as well, and he will want to try and make a comeback in the white ball squad as well. This could be a chance to show people that he can still play T20 cricket and succeed in the game.
