The Indian women’s cricket team has some phenomenal records in international cricket. They created many records during the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against Ireland at home.
After the retirements of legends like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami in recent years, the youngsters have stepped up and produced some memorable performances. The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has also played a substantial role as it has given a platform for talented cricketers in the country to showcase their skills against some of the best players in world cricket.
The biggest winning margin in Women’s ODI cricket in terms of runs is 408. New Zealand registered this win against Pakistan at Christchurch in 1997. On that note, here is a look at three of the biggest wins in terms of runs for the Indian women’s team in ODI cricket.
3. 211 runs vs West Indies in 2024:

India and the West Indies faced each other in the first ODI in a three-match series on December 22, 2024. This was the first international fixture hosted by the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. Smriti Mandhana scored a brilliant 91 off 102 deliveries while Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Jemimah Rodrigues chipped in with useful contributions as the Women in Blue finished on 314/9 in their 50 overs.
In reply, the West Indies were bowled out for just 103 in 26.2 overs as Renuka Singh Thakur picked up five wickets for just 29 runs in her 10 overs while Priya Mishra also bowled well and bagged two wickets. India won by a comprehensive margin of 211 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series before going on to whitewash the Caribbean side.
2. 249 runs vs Ireland in 2017:
India registered a thumping win in a quadrangular series in South Africa on May 15, 2017. Apart from India and South Africa, Ireland, and Zimbabwe participated in the series. In the eighth match, Mithali Raj and Co. put on 358/2 against Ireland at Potchefstroom. Deepti Sharma hit a stunning 188 off 160 balls, belting 27 fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, fellow opener Punam Raut smashed 109 off 116 deliveries on the back of 11 boundaries.
In reply, the Irish side was blown away for 109 in 40 overs. Left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the pick of the bowlers as she finished with figures of 4/18 in eight overs. Meanwhile, seam-bowling all-rounder Shikha Pandey also bowled well and took three wickets.

India’s biggest win in terms of runs in 50-over cricket came in the third ODI against Ireland on January 15, 2025, at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Opting to bat first, openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal forged a 233-run stand in just 26.4 overs. After Mandhana departed for an 80-ball 135, Rawal went on to score her maiden international century. The 24-year-old was eventually dismissed for 154 off 129 balls. She hit 20 fours and one six during her epic knock. Richa Ghosh also slammed a quickfire half-century as India posted their highest total in ODI cricket – 435/5.

Chasing the improbable target, Ireland were bowled out for just 131 in 31.4 overs. Sarah Forbes and Orla Prendergast were the only two Irish batters who showed some fight. Deepti picked up three wickets while Tanuja Kanwar bagged a couple. Titas Sadhu, Sayali Satghare, and Minnu Mani contributed by taking one wicket apiece. India won the match by a massive margin of 304 runs. This stands at No. 8 in the list of highest winning margins by runs in women’s ODI cricket.
