Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is only 13 years old, joined Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the inaugural champions signed him at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction on Monday, November 25. The left-handed batter had a base price of INR 30 lakh but a bidding war involving Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals took the figure up to INR 1.10 crore.

Suryavanshi created history as he became the youngest player to sign for an IPL franchise. He will get the massive opportunity to rub shoulders and pick the brains of star players like captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Shimron Hetmyer among others.

He earned his maiden Ranji Trophy cap when he was 12 and was more recently picked in the India Under-19 squad that played four-day matches against a visiting Australian side in Chennai. In the first encounter at the iconic Chepauk, he amassed a breathtaking century off just 58 balls. This was the fastest Youth Test hundred by an Indian and the second-fastest overall in the world. Suryavanshi also scored a triple-century in the Randhir Verma Under-19 ODI tournament played in Bihar.

Earlier, the teenager had become the youngest cricketer in history to be shortlisted for an IPL auction. However, getting roped in by a team that has Rahul Dravid as the head coach can surely do wonders for his career.

The Bihar batter has only played five first-class matches and a solitary T20 encounter. He will not be thrown into the deep end right away as the Royals management will want to help him develop his craft before he could explode against some of the finest bowlers in world cricket. He will be facing star bowlers like Jofra Archer, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana among others at the RR nets and the experience will surely enrich his batting skills.
