3 सितंबर को खेले गए तीसरे टी-20 मुकाबले में ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका को डरबन के किंग्समीड में 5 विकेट से करारी शिकस्त दी और तीन मुकाबलों की टी-20 सीरीज को 3-0 से अपने नाम किया।
इस पूरी सीरीज में दक्षिण अफ्रीका का प्रदर्शन काफी निराशाजनक रहा था। पहले दो टी-20 मुकाबले में हार झेलने के बाद दक्षिण अफ्रीका के बल्लेबाजों ने तीसरे टी-20 में काफी अच्छी बल्लेबाजी की और 20 ओवर में आठ विकेट खोकर 190 रन बनाए। टीम की ओर से सलामी बल्लेबाज रीजा हेंड्रिक्स ने 30 गेंदों पर दो चौके और दो छक्कों की मदद से 42 रनों की बहुमूल्य पारी खेली जबकि कप्तान एडन मार्करम ने 23 गेंदों में चार चौके और दो छक्कों की मदद से 41 रन बनाए।

विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज ट्रिस्टन स्टब्स ने 16 गेंदों में 1 चौके और 2 छक्कों की मदद से 25 रनों का योगदान दिया। डोनोवन फेरेरा ने भी काफी अच्छी बल्लेबाजी की और 21 गेंदों पर 1 चौके और 5 छक्कों की मदद से 48 रन बनाए। ऑस्ट्रेलिया की ओर से सीन एबॉट ने चार ओवर में 31 रन देकर 4 विकेट झटके जबकि मार्कस स्टोइनिस ने चार ओवर में 39 रन देकर दो विकेट अपने नाम किए।

जवाब में ऑस्ट्रेलिया टीम की शुरुआत इतनी अच्छी नहीं रही और मैथ्यू शॉर्ट पहली गेंद पर बिना खाता खोले आउट हो गए। हालांकि ट्रेविस हेड ने इस मैच में जबरदस्त बल्लेबाजी की और 48 गेंद में 8 चौके और छह छक्कों की मदद से 91 रनों की मैच जिताऊं पारी खेली। उनके अलावा मिचेल स्टार्क ने 15 रनों का योगदान दिया। जोश इंग्लिस ने 42 रनों की पारी खेली और अपनी टीम की जीत में अहम भूमिका निभाई।
ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने 191 रन के लक्ष्य को पांच विकेट होकर 18 ओवर के भीतर ही हासिल कर लिया। दक्षिण अफ्रीका अपने प्रदर्शन से काफी नाखुश होगी। तीसरा टी-20 मुकाबला वो आसानी से अपने नाम कर सकती थी लेकिन ट्रेविस हेड ने ऐसा नहीं होने दिया।
