On November 20, the curtain will rise in Qatar of ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ football world cup. The desert country of Qatar has been newly decorated around this event. All modern stadiums have been built along with roads, hotels. All the matches of this World Cup will be held in a total of 8 spectacular stadiums.
A huge amount of money was spent to build the stadiums. One of the most beautiful of which is Al Janub Stadium. It is located in Al-Wakrah, about 22 kilometres south of Doha. This stadium has been built in the country’s traditional boat fleet style. Boats are generally used in sea fishing and pearl extraction in this country.
The exterior of the stadium is also eye-catching. Sporting and recreational facilities are housed within the area surrounded by integrated parkland. The stadium, with a capacity of 40,000 spectators, was designed by the famous female architect Zaha Hadid. In 2019, this stadium was inaugurated with the final match of Qatar’s Amir Cup.
A total of 7 matches of this year’s World Cup group stage will be held at Al Janub Stadium. About 40,000 spectators can enjoy these matches sitting in the gallery. However, it is known that after the World Cup, the audience capacity of this stadium will be reduced to half. Al-Wakrah Sports Club activities will continue at the same time.
