Afghanistan would like to win this match and seal the series.

Preview

UAE vs AFG will clash on each other in the 3rd T20I of the Afghanistan tour of the United Arab Emirates at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on January 2. The three-match series is poised evenly in an interesting position where the first match was won by Afghanistan while the second game was snatched away by the United Arab Emirates. The winner of this game also takes away the trophy with the win.
Both these teams had squared off against each other in their last encounter which was held at the same venue where UAE had won the toss and elected to bat. Emirates had a fantastic start with the opening stand lasting for 72 runs in 8.3 overs. Both their openers went on to notch up their half-centuries each. However, the batters to come were not able to reciprocate the same and failed to put up a good show with the bat. They kept losing wickets one after the other and as a result, were only able to score 166 runs by the end of the innings.
Afghanistan, in reply, had an aggressive approach to the chase. They amassed 47 runs for the first wicket in just 5.2 overs providing a brilliant start to the chase. A decent partnership for the second wicket was followed by it but after the fall of the second wicket, they just failed to establish any good partnerships. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals which kept on adding to their problems and eventually were bowled out for 155 hence losing the match by a small margin of 11 runs. Ali Naseer was awarded Player of the Match for his brilliant spell with the ball.

Pitch Report

Sharjah Cricket Stadium offers a pitch that is quite more favourable and suitable for batters than it is for bowlers. The pacers might enjoy bowling here with the off-cutters working like a charm. Slower deliveries may increase the work for batters and they may have to toil hard to get the runs towards the end. Teams prefer to bat first here after winning the toss with the average first innings score being 151.
