Tamil Nadu Women will lock horns with Mumbai Women in the 2nd Pre-Quarterfinal match of the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy at the Infipro Sports Academy in Vadodara on January 20. Tamil Nadu Women managed to win four of their seven games and finished second in the points table of Group A while Mumbai Women too won four of their six matches and finished at the second place in Group D.

Tamil Nadu Women squared off against Saurashtra Women in their last match where Saurashtra Women won the toss and elected to bat. Saurashtra had a slow start but had a good opening partnership to build on. However, after the fall of the first wicket, they just kept losing wickets one after the other. Tamil Nadu, in reply, too started slowly and lost a wicket early and may have looked to be in trouble but an unbeaten second wicket partnership worth 141 runs won them the match easily by nine wickets with 11 overs to spare.

Mumbai Women had played against Uttarakhand Women in their last encounter where Uttarakhand Women won the toss and elected to bowl. Mumbai had a bad day on the field as they lost their first wicket on zero and kept losing wickets after that as well. Humairaa Kaazi played a captain’s knock but still, the team could only score 158 runs. Uttarakhand, in return, started brilliantly as their opening stand lasted for 81 runs. Though they too kept losing wickets one after the other and the match got interesting towards the end but they won the game by one wicket.

The track at the Infipro Sports Academy in Vadodara is quite equally helpful to batters as well as bowlers in nature. Spinners are expected to do well here with good turns and bounce off the pitch. Batters, once settled can look to score big. Teams prefer to chase the total after winning the toss, with the average first innings score being 164.
