Madhya Pradesh Women will lock horns with Tamil Nadu Women in the 21st match of the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy at the Cricket Association Puducherry Ground 3 in Puducherry on January 6. Both these teams have played a match each so far where Madhya Pradesh won its game while Tamil Nadu lost it. Hence, they are placed at the top of the table and ninth in the table of Group A, respectively.

Madhya Pradesh Women squared off against Manipur Women in their last match, where Manipur Women won the toss and elected to field. The decision was not proving to be a good one as MP decided to just bat their opponent out of the game. With two centuries right at the top of the order, MP slammed a mammoth total of 350 runs on the board. Manipur were crushed just at the idea of chasing down such a huge total as they kept tumbling one after the other and soon were bowled out for a mere total of 88, hence losing the game by 262 runs.

Tamil Nadu Women had played against Railways Women in their last encounter, where Tamil Nadu Women won the toss and elected to bowl. Railways lost an early wicket at the score of six but was followed by a couple of solid partnerships, with the wicketkeeper Nuzhat Parween smashing a fantastic century. They were able to post a good total of 248 runs. Tamil Nadu had made a good start, with the opening stand lasting for 61 runs, but after the fall of the first wicket, they just kept losing one after the other. Soon enough, they were bowled out and lost the game by 112 runs.

The track at the Cricket Association Puducherry Ground 3 is quite helpful to batters in nature. Spinners are expected to do well here with good turns and bounce off the pitch. Batters, once settled, can look to score big. Teams prefer to chase the total after winning the toss, with the average first innings score being 192.
