India Under-19s will be up against Australia Under-19s in the Finals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni on February 11. Both these teams were unbeatable in the league stage in their groups and are coming into the finals after great wins in the semis. Though India would start the game as favourites, Australia is a team that can never be underestimated.
India Under-19s had played against South Africa Under-19s in the semifinals where India had won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat, South Africa did not start well as they lost early wickets. Good partnerships for the third and fourth wicket did bring them back in the game and they could post a decent total of 244 runs on the board. India looked in trouble in the chase being down for 32 runs for four wickets but a sensational partnership worth 171 runs for the fifth wicket made the chase possible for them and they won by two wickets.
Australia Under-19s squared off against Pakistan Under-19s in the second semifinal where Australia won the toss and elected to field. Pakistani batters crumbled under pressure as Azan Awais and Arafat Minhas were the only batters who could bat well while almost the whole team got out in single digits. They were bowled out for a meagre total of 179 but it was the brilliance of Pakistani bowlers as they made a game out of this total as well. Australians had to struggle to reach this total after Tom Straker had taken six wickets for them in the first innings, but they did win the game by just one wicket.
