Despite a valiant effort, the Hurricanes fell short, managing to score 116 runs for the loss of nine wickets. The match concluded with a narrow one-run victory for Brisbane Heat, with Xavier Bartlett emerging as the most successful bowler, taking three wickets in his four-over spell while conceding 30 runs.
Scrochers faced Sydney Thunder in their last match and elected to bowl after winning the toss. Thunder lost their first wicket for 35 runs in the 7th over in the form of Cameron Bancroft. They lost their second wicket for 88 runs and then lost a series of wickets. Thunder lost the next five wickets for just 20 runs. Alex Hales emerged as the highest scorer with the bat for the team and made 72 runs off 55 deliveries.
Thunder scored 137 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Cooper Connolly was the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets for 25 runs in four overs. Ashton Agar picked two wickets for six runs in four overs, including a maiden over.
Zak Crawley and Sam Whiteman provided a solid start to the Scorchers and added 43 runs for the first wicket. Crawley scored 58 runs off 56 deliveries and hit eight fours. Scorchers chased down the target of 138 runs in 19.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Nathan McAndrew took two wickets for 27 runs in four overs, while Chris Green picked one wicket for 22 runs for the Thunder.
