DNL vs RAN will lock horns in the 2nd semi-final match of the SS Rajan T20 Trophy 2024 at the SCF Cricket Ground in Salem on January 31. Dindigul won three of their four games in Zone B and finished second. Ranipet, on the other hand, have the same stats and are second in Zone D.

Dindigul played against Thanjavur in their last match, where Dindigul won the toss and elected to bat. They started decently with not too high an opening stand and kept scoring at almost the same rate throughout the innings. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals due to which they never really could pace up their innings and finished with just 140 runs on the board. Thanjavur did not start well and had lost two wickets at the score of 11 but it was followed by a brilliant third wicket partnership. However, they too kept losing wickets due to which the match got quite interesting towards the end but Dindigul managed to clinch it by just three runs.

Ranipet squared off against Theni in their last encounter, where Ranipet won the toss and elected to bat. They had a rather slow start scoring just 28 runs in six overs for the first wicket. With Atheeq Rehman coming onto the pitch, the scoring rate started getting better as he found boundaries regularly and pushed the team to a total of 148 runs. Theni, in return, was slow and sloppy right from the start. Adding to that, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals as well. Eventually, they lost the game by 30 runs.

The track at the SCF Cricket Ground in Salem is equally helpful to batters as well as bowlers. Spinners are expected to dominate the game here with good turn and bounce offered by the pitch. Batters once settled can look to score big. Teams prefer to chase the total after winning the toss, with the average first innings score being 126.
