Younis Khan is a legend of Pakistan cricket. He was the pillar of the Pakistan team in test cricket. Stats and records are a reflection of his unparalleled contribution. He is the highest run scorer for Pakistan in test cricket with more than ten thousand runs. Throughout his career, he played some mind-blowing innings which are still fresh in the memory of cricket fans. In this article, we will take a look at the top 3 batting innings of Younis Khan in test cricket.

The top 3 batting innings of Younis Khan in test cricket:

1. 313 vs Sri Lanka, 2009

Younis Khan played the best knock of his test career against the Asian rivals Sri Lanka in Karachi. This remained his only triple century but he is one of the very few from Pakistan to achieve this remarkable feat. He played this fabulous knock in the first innings of the first match of the test series between the two teams.

Sri Lanka had put up a massive total of 644/7d in the first innings. Younis Khan gave a strong reply and made a triple century to take Pakistan to 765/d, resulting in a massive lead. The match eventually ended in a draw but this batting masterclass was surely one of a kind.

2. 267 vs India, 2005

A giant double century from Younis Khan against the arch-rivals India. This would probably be his most cherished innings in his test career as it came against India in Indian conditions. This world-class century paved the way for a memorable victory for Pakistan in Bangalore.

Pakistan batted first in that match and Younis Khan’s double century was instrumental in leading them to a total as big as 570 runs. India could not overcome this total and Pakistan got a lead in the first innings which they built on in the second innings to tread the path of a comfortable victory.

3. 218 vs England, 2016

Younis Khan made this double century in the later phase of his career. He played this knock in testing English conditions at the Oval. Pakistan won the 4th match of the test series in a dominating fashion and Younis Khan made a massive contribution to that victory by neutralizing the potent English bowling attack and guiding Pakistan to a rare convincing win in England. It was due to his efforts that Pakistan got a huge lead in the first innings which helped them put England under pressure. In the end, Pakistan got a thumping victory by 10 wickets.
