WPL 2025: Predicting Mumbai Indians Women’s Playing XI for their Eliminator clash against Gujarat Giants Women

Inaugural champions of Women’s Premier League, Mumbai Indians are set to take on Gujarat Giants in the eliminator game on Thursday. The winner of that encounter will face Delhi Capitals in the finals on Saturday. Mumbai began the season with a loss to Delhi before beating Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz twice. 

The women in Blue and Gold then lost away to Delhi before beating RCB once and losing the final league match of the season. Had MI won the game they would have gone top of the table and played the finals. Speaking at the end of the game, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said “This ground is only about saving the boundaries. In the last two overs, we gave 40 and that cost us, apart from that we did well in the game. We saw in the last game that 180 was chaseable. The way Sajana was batting we had hope she would win the game for us but good to see that other batters also contributed”

Top order

West Indian batter Hayley Matthews has been a consistent player for MI and can score runs at the top of the order. Matthews is also more than capable with the ball and can pick key wickets for her side. Amelia Kerr has been asked to open for MI and the Kiwi star hasn’t had a great time so far. MI will hope that Kerr can come good with the bat and score runs for her and their side and help them get to the finals. 

Middle Order 

Mumbai Indians have been able to move into the playoff matches thanks to the brilliance of Natalie Sciver-Brunt. The English star has been the top scorer for her side with the bat and also picked wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has had a steady season with the bat, Kaur though will look to play a big innings that hasn’t come from her bat so far. Amanjot Kaur has been the find of the season and her exploits show what a talent she is for MI in the years to come. 

Lower-order

Wicketkeeper and batter Yastika Bhatia has provided the much-needed muscle towards the end of the innings. The left-handed batter has been an enforcer for her team with the bat in the final few overs. Sajana and Kamalini have been doing their bit with the bat and ball and have been key members for MI in the run-up to the knockouts.  

Tail enders

Former South African pacer Shabnim Ismail has been the best bowler for MI so far this season. The 36-year-old has bowled with good pace and has been able to take wickets at regular intervals for her side. Sanskriti Gupta and Parunika Sisodia have been providing good support with the ball for MI and taken key wickets during the season.
