Top 5 batting performances of Misbah-ul-Haq in ODIs

Pakistan cricket has been known to give some great players in international cricket. There have been a lot of top players who have featured in one of the most iconic South Asian teams in the world right now. The number of top batters and brilliant bowlers is nothing new in the squad for the men in green, who are still one of the top teams in international cricket even today.

Though there are many legendary players in Pakistan there are also some underrated legends in the mix as well. One of these players is Misbah-ul-Haq, who has been one of the best middle-order batters for Pakistan in his 13-year career. Though he came into the spotlight because of his performance in the T20 World Cup 2007, it was in ODI and Test where he has given some great performances. His ODI numbers are also great where he has played 162 ODI games and has scored over 5000 at an average of 43.40.

So, here are the top 5 best performances from Misbah-ul-Haq in ODI’s:

5. 83 vs Zimbabwe 2013

This might be one of the most underwhelming performances from the Pakistan side against a now weaker Zimbabwe team where the Men in Green fell 20-30 runs short. However, Misbah Ul Haq still managed to stay unbeaten on 83 and made sure his team in the end put up a defendable total at best. This might not have ended up in favour of Pakistan, but it was still a great innings by Misbah who played a great captain’s knock.

4. 83 vs Sri Lanka 2011

This was another Misbah innings which kept the Pakistan innings afloat. Misbah was once again unbeaten on a score of 83 from 91 deliveries and made sure his side got to a decent total in the end. This score was also enough to defend against a strong Sri Lankan batting lineup and it was all thanks to Misbah’s contribution who was one of the best performers in the game.

3. 96 vs West Indies 2013

This was one of those days where Misbah turned up in an ICC tournament this time against the West Indies. This was once again Misbah Ul Haq trying his best to keep the Pakistan innings afloat. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 170 in the game and it was only Misbah’s 96 from 127 deliveries which was the silver linings. This was also Misbah’s highest score in ODI cricket as well. This match did end in a thrilling 2 wicket loss for Pakistan, but it was still one of the best innings we have seen from Misbah.

2. 80 vs South Africa 2013

This was one of the moments Misbah proved himself as a skipper who can win games out of nowhere. The Pakistan bowlers did a great job to restrict South Africa to just 234 in the first innings. It was still up to the batters to chase it down. This was where Misbah came to the rescue, who despite running out of partners made sure he got the side in a winning position. Not only was this a thrilling 3-wicket victory for Pakistan, but also showed us the capability of Misbah with an innings of 80 from 93 deliveries.

1. 93 vs New Zealand 2011

This was another instance which saw Misbah play an important innings in one of the toughest times for Pakistan. The Men in green were once again facing another mini collapse, but Misbah held his ground once again. This was another intense game where Misbah was once again a hero with his unbeaten 93 from 91 deliveries and saw his team to a two wicket victory against a great New Zealand side. This was really one of the best match-winning innings we have seen from Misbah as well.
