Top 3 West Indian batters with most runs in IPL

Over the years, West Indies players have been doing well in the T20 cricket, either in the international cricket or leagues. This has been a reason why they won the 20-20 World Cups in 2012 and 2016. Apart from this, they have won a lot of T20 leagues across the globe. 

One of those leagues has been the Indian Premier League (IPL). Since the first season of the tournament, some legendary Caribbean players have played for different teams. In this listicle, we will discuss the top three runs getters from the North America part of the World.

1. Chris Gayle

The former West Indies skipper is undoubtedly in the list. From, 2008 to 2021, he played for the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings. Currently, he is doing commentary stint after deciding not to be part of the league as a player. 

After playing 142 games, he is only 35 runs short of 5000 runs, i.e 4965 at an average of 39.72 including six hundreds and 31 fifties.

2. Kieron Pollard

The retired international cricket played for Mumbai Indians from 2010 to 2022. He saw it all whether losing the 2010 final, losing playoff games in 2011, 2012, and 2014 lifting five titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 and outside playoffs finishes in 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2022. 

Ahead of the ongoing season, he decided to retire from the league and is now working at the batting coach of the same side. Meanwhile, during his 12-year-old, he played 189 runs and has 3412 runs at an average of 28.67 batting in the middle and lower-middle order. The former West Indies player has 16 fifties to his name too.

3. Dwayne Smith

The former Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings player has played 91 games in the tournament. The right-hander was also part of the 2009 and 2013 winning sides. Meanwhile, Smith has 2427 runs to his name at an average of 28.39 including 17 fifties. 

A few years back, he retired from all formats of the game. He plast played an IPL game in the final of the 2015 season. His side, CSK lost to MI in the final.
