Top 3 unbreakable records set by Chris Gayle in IPL

The former legendary Caribbean batting star Chris Gayle had been very impressive during his stint in the Indian Premier League. He played for a period of 13 years and 14 seasons of the tournament from the inception in the year 2008 to 2021. Gayle appeared in 142 IPL matches and got a chance to bat in 141 innings of his IPL career.

During this period, he scored 4965 runs with a decent average of 39.72 having six centuries and 31 half-centuries to his name including 357 sixes on his credit.

With that said, here we’ll have a look at three unbreakable IPL records of the 43-year-old former batting legend who could stay there for a long time in the cash-rich Indian franchise league.

Highest Individual Score – 175

It came when Chris Gayle was associated with the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the sixth season of the tournament in IPL 2013. RCB and Pune Warriors India (PWI) were locking horns with each other in a league match. On that day, Chris Gayle smashed a swashbuckling knock of 175 runs against PWI.

It is still the highest individual score contributed by any batter in the history of the Indian Premier League. This amazing knock from Chris Gayle came at RCB’s ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Highest Centuries in the IPL

It was the 11th season of the tournament in IPL 2018, Chris Gayle smashed his last century in the cash-rich league. But still, he holds the record of the highest number of centuries by an individual player in the history of the tournament.

In his 13-year-long IPL career, the Jamaican star scored six centuries with the wood alongside 31 half-centuries. He appeared in IPL 2021 as his last season in the tournament; starting from playing with KKR, then RCB for couple of years, Gayle ended his career after his stint for Punjab Kings

Highest Sixes by an Individual Batter

Chris Gayle was one of the batters who are still ranked or named as the sixer kings since the arrival of T20 cricket. He was one of the clinical hitters of the ball in the shortest format of cricket. Speaking of his following in the fans and experts of the game, Gayle was known as the six-hitting machine.

Given the fact, he still holds the record of highest number of sixes by an individual batter. He smashed 357 maximums with the bat in his IPL career. Even the second batter in the list, AB de Villiers has a difference of more than 100 sixes with Gayle hitting 251 sixes with the bat during his IPL career.
