Top 3 talking points from Mumbai Indians’ group stage campaign in IPL 2024

The five-time IPL winner Mumbai Indians had a campaign to forget in 2024 as they finished up in the last spot with just four wins and 10 losses in the marquee event so far.

It was truly a poor campaign for the MI under new skipper Hardik Pandya, who was traded from the Gujarat Titans. Notably, MI lacked bite across the departments, and their captain’s misfiring was a major talking point in the current season.

In the same vein, here are the top three talking points from the Mumbai Indians group stage campaign in IPL 2024.

1. Suryakumar Yadav’s failure to score consistently

Suryakumar Yadav

India’s star cricketer, Suryakumar Yadav, who is the number one T20I batter, failed to make an impact in the IPL 2024. The star cricketer just played a magnificent game against SRH; however, he failed to mark his name in the current edition. The right-handed batter was responsible for boosting the middle order, but he failed to do his role. However, the 33-year-old batter was the biggest threat until last year, but he was unable to keep his role in the current edition. Meanwhile, he just made 345 runs in 11 innings for the side.

2. Ishan Kishan’s no-show with the bat

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan failed to mark his presence in the IPL 2024. Notably, the star cricketer sets to do the most damage in the power plays, but he failed to keep up his role and wasn’t able to stitch the stand alongside former skipper Rohit Sharma.

The left-handed batter missed the chance to impress the selectors and failed to get a place in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad owing to his poor form.

3. Hardik Pandya’s awful edition as a skipper and all-rounder

Hardik Pandya

MI skipper Hardik Pandya seems to be in poor form, as he didn’t produce a single knock from the bat in the whole edition. In addition, he wasn’t able to mark his bowling impact as well, and he has been the subject of criticism for his poor capacity, which knocked them out of the tournament.
