Top 3 steal deals from IPL 2025 mega auction Day 1

Discover the top 3 steal deals from Day 1 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The first day of the IPL 2025 mega auction saw many records broken as there were players for which the franchise decided to break the bank. Rishabh Pant created history by becoming the most expensive player in the history of the league as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bought him for a whopping 27 crores.

Before Pant, Iyer also created history as he was sold to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for 26.75 crores. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who are known to bid big in the auction, went all in for Venkatesh Iyer and bought him for 23.75 crores. However, there were also some players who were expected to get big but ended up getting an unexpected amount.

Here are the top three steal deals from IPL 2025 mega auction Day 1:

1. KL Rahul (14 crores)

Star India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul was one of the most talked about players ahead of the auction and was expected to get a big amount. However, Delhi Capitals managed to get him for 14 crores. Interestingly, fans were expecting Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to go for Rahul but they didn’t go too far for him. With Rahul joining DC, their captaincy concern seems to have ended now.

2. Mitchell Starc (11.75 crores)

The premium Australian pacer, Mitchell Starc, was the most expensive player before the IPL 2025 auction as he was sold to KKR for 24.75 crores last year. This time, DC managed to get him for only 11.75 crores. He has seen a 52.5% decrease in his IPL salary but DC would be happy to get him for so cheap.

3. Mohammed Shami (10 crores)

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami missed the last edition of the IPL due to an injury after which the Gujarat Titans decided to not retain him. Injury has always been a concern when it comes to Shami. But he is a different beast when he is fully fit and keeping that thing in mind, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) signed him for 10 crores. Of course, the amount don’t justify the calibre of the star pacer but it won’t be wrong to say that it’s a steal deal for SRH.
