The opening game will feature reigning champions England against New Zealand in a rematch of the previous edition’s final. With four four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul to his credit in the mega-event, he recorded the best bowling figures of 5/45.
1. Muthiah Muralidaran, Sri Lanka
There are no prizes for guessing that Muthiah Muralidaran appears atop this list, cementing his place with 68 wickets in 40 matches for Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup. He scalped his prey at an average of 19.63 whilst maintaining a mind-blowing economy rate of 3.88. Surprisingly, the spin ace never took a five-wicket haul in the ODI World Cup but had four four-wicket hauls to his name with the best bowling figures of 4/19.
