Top 3 player battles to watch out for in SRH vs LSG clash

The seventh of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 27. Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will be hosting the clash, which is SRH’s home ground. SRH also played their first match in Hyderabad, where they destroyed the Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowling attack and posted 286 runs on the scoreboard.

On the other hand, LSG played their first match of the season against Delhi Capitals (DC), which they lost by just one wicket. And it is not going to be easy for the LSG bowlers as SRH’s batters are playing with an aggressive mindset only. So, it’s going to be a battle between LSG bowlers and SRH batters on Thursday.

1. Travis Head vs Ravi Bishnoi 

SRH’s destructive opening batter, Travis Head, has been in the form of his life currently, be it international cricket or IPL. Head continued to play with the same aggressive approach during SRH’s first IPL 2025 encounter, which was against RR. He scored 67 runs off just 31 balls, utilising the field restrictions during the powerplay. If LSG want to get rid of Head early, they will have to introduce their star spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the powerplay itself because Head finds it easy to score runs against the pacers.

2. Harshal Patel vs Nicholas Pooran 

LSG’s star batter Nicholas Pooran wreaked havoc during LSG’s first IPL 2025 match, which was against DC. The left-handed powerhouse scored 75 runs off just 30 deliveries. He was hitting sixes effortlessly against both pacers and spinners. SRH have pacers like Mohammed Shami and Pat Cummins who might get targeted by Pooran. So, they should play Harshal Patel against Head, who has multiple variations in his bowling, and a slower one could get Head’s wicket as well.

3. Ishan Kishan vs Shardul Thakur

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) star Ishan Kishan is now a part of SRH, and the pocket dynamite made his dream debut for the franchise by smashing a breathtaking century against RR. Kishan looked in great touch as he punished all the bowlers from RR. Shardul Thakur can be an option who might dismiss Kishan cheaply. During LSG’s first IPL 2025 encounter, Thakur dismissed DC’s star batters Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel in the very first over.
