Top 3 player battles to watch out for in CSK vs MI Clash

The two teams have played each other 37 times before this in the league and Mumbai has won 20 matches while Chennai has won 17 times. In the last few seasons it is the Men in Yellow who have held the sway as far as wins are concerned against Mumbai Indians. 

While CSK is at their strongest with no injuries to note, Mumbai is set to be without two of its major stars. Skipper Hardik Pandya is set to miss the encounter due to a one-match ban, while Jasprit Bumrah is still out injured and is likely to come in the first week of April

3- Deepak Chahar vs Ruturaj Gaikwad

Former CSK pacer Deepak Chahar is now set to play for Mumbai Indians and the 32-year-old will return to his former stomping grounds. During his time with CSK, Chahar was used in the first eight overs by MS Dhoni to make use of the new ball and the swing it offers. Chahar knows a lot about his former teammates and one of them is CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. The 28-year-old batter is known to be a slow starter and Chahar’s swing bowling could trouble Gaikwad in the early part of the game. 

2- Suryakumar Yadav vs Ravichandran Ashwin

One player battle that could define the outcome of the game is between stand-in MI skipper Suryakumar Yadav and veteran spinner R. Ashwin. Both players are known to assert their dominance early in the game. Ashwin makes his comeback to Chennai after ten years and will want to do well on his homecoming. Yadav on the other hand, will want to lead by example and score big runs for Mi and help them win their first game of the season against their arch-rivals. 

1- Trent Boult vs Rachin Ravindra 

Two Kiwi stars who have shared the dressing room and know everything about each other. The battle between Trent Boult and Rachin Ravindra will be one to watch out for. Boult, after spending a few seasons with Rajasthan is back to MI in a bid to bolster their bowling. Rachin Ravindra, on the other hand, has been in terrific form with the bat during the recent Champions Trophy 2025 tournament. Both MI and CSK will want their respective Kiwi stars to come out on top and capture the bragging rights after the third game of the IPL 2025 season on Sunday.
