Top 3 performances by Australian bowlers against India in T20Is

The ODI World Champions are raring to go for another multilateral trophy in 2024. They will play a T20 Series against India to start their voyage towards the Caribbean for the next T20 World Cup. The Aussies will be trying new faces in this series as few of the main players have been rested after the World Cup campaign. Before the series starts let’s take a look at the top 3 performances by Australian bowlers against India in T20.

Here are the Top 3 performances by Australian bowlers against India in T20Is:

Jason Behrendorff – 4/21 in 2017

Jason Behrendorff

Jason Behrendorff has the best bowling figures for an Australian against India in T20 cricket. He delivered this spell in the second match of the T20 series in 2017 at Guwahati.

The Indian team batted first but Australia dismissed them for 118 and Behrendorff was instrumental with his 4 wickets in restricting India to such a low total. Behrendorff wreaked havoc on the Indian top order with the new ball. He picked up all his 4 wickets in the powerplay. His dismissals included Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey. Australia chased down the target in the second innings to register a comprehensive victory.

Nathan Bracken – 3/11 in 2008

Nathan Bracken

The left-arm Australian pacer bowled brilliantly in the one-off T20I between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australia bowled India out for 74 runs courtesy of 3 wickets from Bracken along with contributions from other bowlers.

Bracken dismissed Gautam Gambhir with the new ball. He got another wicket in the powerplay with Robin Uthappa’s dismissal. His 3rd wicket was the last wicket of the Indian innings. He dismissed Irfan Pathan for his 3rd wicket. Australia won this match by 9 wickets in the end.

Adam Zampa – 3/16 in 2022

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa bowled this spell in a rain-curtailed match at Nagpur. Due to rain, the match was truncated to 8 overs per side. Australia batted first and scored 90 runs in their 8 overs. In the run chase, Adam Zampa got the early breakthrough by dismissing KL Rahul. Later he got the better of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav on consecutive deliveries to put India in trouble. Though India won the match eventually, Zampa’s spell kept the match in the balance till the last over.
