The T20 World Cup is about to begin and all the cricket fans will be tuning in to see who will be the top performers in the upcoming ICC tournament. This is the 9th edition of the T20 World Cup and we are ready for the thrills and chills that the tournament will have to offer us. This will surely be a tournament to remember for everyone as it will surely promise us even more great games here as well.
We have already seen some great innings and performances by some great players in this tournament, but right now we will be looking into some of the best nail biting finishers that have stuck with us as fans for a long time. There have been a lot of iconic matches in the long history, but we are right now going to talk about three of the best matches we have witnessed.
So, here are the top 3 nail biting finishers in T20 World Cup history that we will never forget:
3. India vs bangladesh 2016 Super 10 match
This was perhaps one of the best India vs Bangladesh T20 matches we have ever seen. It looked like India were already short of runs in the first innings managing only 145. However it was not an easy chase for the Tigers as well. As soon as we thought Hardik Pandya had lost us the game after giving two boundaries to Mushfiqur Rahim in the last over, the next two deliveries caused two big wickets. This was one of the most dramatic T20 World Cup matches which ended with India out of nowhere managing a one run victory after a classic Dhoni run out.
2. West Indies vs England 2016 final
The same World Cup where we saw an India Bangladesh classic, we also saw one of the best T20 World Cup finals as well. Through all the difficulty England managed to score 155 in the first innings. However, apart from Marlon Samuels the rest of the Caribbean batters could not trouble the scorers. It was looking like England’s game until Carlos Brathwaite surprised the world striking 4 sixes in a row and winning the West Indies their second T20 World Cup trophy. This was another iconic match and we can still hear the iconic quote of “ Remember the name” by Ian Bishop when we go back to this match.
1. India vs Pakistan 2007 final
This was perhaps one of the matches no Indian fans will ever forget. Whether it was Gautam Gambhir’s brilliant innings, last over from Joginder Sharma and Sreesanth’s catch at short fine leg, all these moments made this one of the best nail biting matches. There are a lot of emotions and a lot of great players to remember during this inaugural T20 World Cup final which featured two of the biggest rivals in cricket. This is the game that made T20 World Cups what it is today.
