Top 3 knocks by Shai Hope in ODI format

West Indies star batter Shai Diego Hope made his ODI debut on November 29, 2016, and has produced a plethora of magnificent knocks. The 29-year-old batter had collected 4488 runs from just 108 matches, including 14 centuries and 21 fifties. On the same note, we will look at the top three knocks by him in the 50-over format.

1. 170 runs against Ireland

West Indies wicketkeeper Shai Hope’s best knock came on May 5, 2019 against Ireland. On that day, Shai Hope scored 170 runs from 152 balls, featuring 22 boundaries and two sixes. The Barbados-born batter had a great partnership with John Campbell, who had also amassed 179 runs, which enabled them to post a total of 381 runs against the home team. Later, while chasing, the Ireland team collapsed for just 185 runs while handing a 196-run victory to the Jason Holder-led Windies.

2. 146* runs against the Bangladesh

The star batter’s unbeaten 146-run knock is the second highest, which came against Bangladesh in Mirpur on December 11, 2018. Notably, on that day, the home team posted a target of 255 runs while batting first. Later, while chasing, the right-handed batter blasted 146 runs, featuring 12 fours and three sixes, which helped them to clinch the 2nd ODI by 4 wickets with 2 balls remaining. Following this win, the three-match series was leveled at 1-1, and Hope was awarded the Player of the Match for his wonderful knock against the home team.

3. 132 runs against Nepal

The Barbados-born batter recently hammered 132 runs against Nepal during the World Cup Qualifier on June 22, 2023, at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe. On that day, the 29-year-old batter hammered 132 runs while smashing 10 fours and three sixes. Notably, Nicholas Pooran also struck a century that helped them post a total of 339 runs in the given 50 overs. Later, while chasing, Nepal could only rack up 238 runs before getting all out and handing the Shai Hope-led side a 101-run victory. On top of that, the Shai Hope-led side couldn’t continue this winning momentum and later got eliminated during the Super Sixes round of World Cup qualifiers.
