India’s first-ever series win in England

In 1971, under the leadership of Ajit Wadekar, India won a Test series in England for the first time. It was a huge moment for Indian cricket as the shackles of suppression were broken with this series victory and India showed their colonial masters that they could beat them in their own game. It was a 3-match Test series and the first two matches had ended in a draw but the Indian team grabbed the opportunity in the third Test at the Oval to clinch the series. 

A series win for England in India after 27 years

In 2012, the English team scripted history as they clinched the Test series in India after 27 years. This was their first series win in India since 1984-85. It was Alastair Cook who led the English team to a series victory in a dominating fashion. Captain Cook himself stepped up with his batting performances and scored 562 runs. This was the last time India lost a home Test series which also reflects the magnitude of this victory. 

Kapil and his 4 sixes

The 1983 World Cup-winning captain is known for his daredevilry on the ground and here is another such moment where Kapil Dev showed his class while being adventurous. Team India toured England for a Test series in 1990 and the Indians were in a spot of bother as they had to avoid a follow-on in the first Test match. Kapil smashed Eddie Hemmings for four sixes in an over and carried India beyond the required score. It still remains one of the most iconic moments in this Test rivalry.
