3. Rohit Sharma (109 off 60 balls against KKR) 2012

Rohit Sharma’s love affair with the City of Joy’s iconic stadium dates back to 2012. In the 58th match of the fourth edition of IPL, Hitman announced his return to the cricketing fraternity. Rohit Sharma’s elegant maiden ton helped Mumbai Indians hold onto their top-four spots in the league standings. 

Batting first on a sluggish Eden Gardens track, Rohit Sharma flaunted his pull shots to dispatch in-form KKR bowlers all over the park. Rohit, along with Herschelle Gibbs, put on a 167-run partnership for the first wicket. Rohit played a wonderful innings of 109 runs in just 60 balls hitting 12 boundaries and 6 sixes. Rohit’s innings helped Mumbai put up a decent target of 182 runs. The hosts faltered in their run-chase and could only reach 155 runs at the end of 20 overs. Hence, Rohit’s innings put an end to KKR’s winning streak of 7 matches.

2. Sunil Narine (109 runs off 56 balls against RR) 2024

The sheer unpredictability of Sunil’s ton is what sets his innings apart from others in the list. The left-handed maestro delivered an outstanding performance against the Rajasthan Royals in the 31st match of IPL 2024. Playing at Eden Gardens, the Mecca of Indian Cricket, Sunil Narine shocked Rajasthan Royals with a stunning century, scoring 109 runs off just 56 balls. His innings included 13 boundaries and 6 sixes.

Narine was ruthless in his innings right from the start, however, it was his pinch-hitting against veteran spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal that helped him take KKR’s score past 200. However, Sunil’s ton failed to propel KKR to a victory as RR’s batter, Jos Buttler, played an innings of a lifetime to help RR chase a record total of 224 runs.

Jonny Bairstow played the innings of his lifetime against the hosts in the 2024 edition of IPL. Chasing a monumental target of 262 runs, not many have Punjab Kings the chance of scripting history at Eden Gardens.  Opening the innings for Punjab Kings, Jonny Bairstow scored a ton in just 48 balls hitting eight boundaries and nine sixes in the process. Bairstow showed no mercy against both pacers and spinners including maestro Sunil Narine. His incredible innings helped Punjab chase down the massive total in the 19th over.
