South Africa and West Indies clashed in a 3-match T20I series in 2023 and the second match of this series witnessed the unprecedented. The Proteas created a record chasing the highest total in T20I cricket. In the first innings, West Indies scored 258 runs courtesy of an explosive century from Johnson Charles. South Africa gave the reply in the same manner and Quinton De Kock led the onslaught for the Proteas who also scored a century. He was assisted by Reeza Hendricks and these two knocks made this run chase possible for South Africa with 7 balls to spare.

The second-highest successful run chase was done by an associate nation against another associate nation. Bulgaria and Serbia played a 4-match T20I series in 2022 which was won by Bulgaria in a dominating fashion. In the second match of the series Serbia came the closest to trouncing Bulgaria but the Bulgarian batters had different intentions. Batting first Serbia scored 242 runs which were eventually chased by Bulgaria in a thrilling encounter. Saim Hussain and Kevin D’Souza were very instrumental in the run chase for Bulgaria with their half-centuries.

A contest between the trans-Tasman rivals is always worth watching. Here is another cracker of a contest between Australia and New Zealand where we witnessed one of the highest run-chases in the history of the shortest format. It was the fifth match of the tri-series where Australian batters achieved a piece of history with their batting heroics. Chasing a target of 244 runs it was very important for key Australian batters to step up and they did exactly that. Players like Warner, Finch, and Maxwell brought their best game to the table and carried Australia across the finishing line in a humongous run chase.
