Top 3 highest scores at Arun Jaitley Stadium in ODIs

Top 3 Stadiums where Ravindra Jadeja has most wickets in Tests

Arun Jaitley stadium, Delhi

There are many iconic stadium stadiums in India like Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. One of them is Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, which was formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium but was renamed in 2019 in memory of former finance minister of India Arun Jaitley. This is the second oldest in the country after Eden Gardens.

The stadium was established in 1983 and since then it has produced many iconic matches. But the stadium didn’t see many big totals in the ODI format. On that note, we will take a look at the top 3 highest scores at Arun Jaitley Stadium in ODIs.

1. West Indies 330/8 v Netherlands (28 February 2011)

West Indies clashed against the Netherlands in the 13th match of the 2011 ODI World Cup. Netherlands won the toss and elected to field first but their decision proved wrong as the Caribbean side amassed a humongous total of 330 runs in the 1st innings. Thanks to Kieron Pollard’s quick 60 off 27 balls, which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. This the highest score which is ever scored at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and in the end West Indies won the match by 215 runs.

2. Pakistan 303/8 v India (17 April 2005)

It won’t be wrong to say that India vs Pakistan is one of the biggest cricket rivalries in the history of the game. Both teams clashed at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in 2005 in an ODI match where Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Pakistan’s destructive allrounder Shahid Afridi surprisingly came to open the innings and gave a cracking start to the team and they score 303 runs at the end which is the 2nd highest total at the stadium. They also won the match by 159 runs.

3. Australia 294/3 v Zimbabwe (11 April 1998)

India, Australia, and Zimbabwe clashed against each other in an ODI Tri-series in 1998. The 6th match of the series was played between the Australian team and Zimbabwe where Australia were asked to bat first. Former legendary batter Ricky Ponting smashed a magnificent century and helped his team to achieve 294 runs in the 1st innings, which is the 3rd highest total at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
