Top 3 fastest centuries in T20I Cricket by Australians

Batters in T20 cricket are the ones who make the audience cling to the screens for the thrilling action. In the past, we have seen so many players playing world-class innings who made us stand up and applaud. But in this article, we will take a look at the top 3 fastest centuries in T20 cricket.

1. Aaron Finch – 156 (63 balls)

Aaron Finch

Former Australian captain and explosive opener, Aaron Finch, tops this list. He holds the record for the fastest century by an Australian, which he made against the arch-rivals England in 2013. Australia batted first in the match and it was Finch who carried Australia to a massive total of 248/6 without any proper assistance from any other batter. He completed his century in just 47 deliveries.

In the second innings England did show some fight and crossed the 200-run mark but could not come close to the target and Australia won the match by 39 runs. Aaron Finch was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant century.

2. Josh Inglis – 110 (50 balls)

Josh Inglis

The Australian wicketkeeper-batsman is second on the list but he completed his century in as many balls as Aaron Finch. Inglis scored this century against India at Visakhapatnam recently in the ongoing T20 series. He exploited the batting-friendly conditions at Visakhapatnam perfectly to play such a quick knock helping Australia to post a target of 209 runs. Australia lost this match eventually but this stunning innings must get its fair share of appreciation.

3. Glenn Maxwell – 104* (48 balls)

Glenn Maxwell

This is another century from an Australian batter in the ongoing series against India. Interestingly, Maxwell also completed his century in 47 but there was a positive change from the last innings, Australia won the match. This century from Maxwell came in a humongous run chase. Australia was chasing a target of 223 runs and Glenn Maxwell became the savior once again for the Kangaroos. The Australian team lost a couple of quick wickets in the run chase but Maxwell didn’t let the momentum go away and ultimately completed the run chase in a thrilling fashion on the last ball of the match, with a boundary.
