India is currently the number one T20I side in the world and have enjoyed a lot of success in the format. Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has made the Men in Blue a formidable side in the format, which other teams have struggled against. The victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 showed us how the team was able to cope even under pressure in the matches. There have been some great records set by the team in the shortest format of the game.
Despite all the explosive batting that comes with T20 cricket, scoring a century is not all that common. Indian batters have scored 15 T20I hundreds, and it has always been a treat to watch these innings as cricket fans. Here we look at Indian batters who have scored the fastest centuries in the format. These are the innings where Indian batters have taken apart every bowling attack against who they have played.
So, here are the top 3 fastest centuries by an Indian batter in T20I:
3. KL Rahul and Abhishek Sharma- 46 balls
Who could forget KL Rahul’s iconic knock against West Indies where he scored a magnificent hundred in 2016 against West Indies in Florida. This was a great match to watch where we got to see the class of Rahul. However, he is also joined in the list with swashbuckling young southpaw Abhishek Sharma who scored a great 46-ball hundred recently against Zimbabwe. These were two great knocks by two talented batters in the Indian team.
2. Suryakumar Yadav- 45 balls
This was the moment where it was a complete SKY 360 show as Suryakumar Yadav was making a mockery out of the Sri Lankan bowlers in Rajkot. This was another great century which got the Indian innings to a huge total and it took him just 45 deliveries to get there. Surya was at his best when he once again pummelled the bowlers to all parts of the ground in this game.
1. Rohit Sharma- 35 balls
This was the fastest century by an Indian in T20I’s, and this was when the Hitman was in great touch. If you thought Sky had given a nightmare to the bowlers in 2023, you still have to go back to 2016 when Rohit Sharma completely dominated the Lankan bowlers with this magnificent century. Rohit completed his hundred in just 35 balls and managed to take the Indian innings to a total of 260 in the end. This gave us a glimpse of the opener who seemed to time every ball to perfection and had hit 12 fours and 10 sixes during the innings. This was an innings which no one will ever forget when Rohit was in the form of his life.
