Top 3 bowling performances of Megan Schutt in ODIs

The Australian Women’s team has been the most successful in international cricket recently. Their formidable bowling unit has had a huge role to play in that and one of the crucial members of that bowling unit is Megan Schutt. Schutt has been a consistent wicket-taker for Australia, especially in the 50-over cricket. In this article, we will take a look at her top 3 bowling performances in ODI cricket.

1. 4/18 vs West Indies, 2014

Megan Schutt delivered her best performance in ODI cricket against West Indies in 2014. In the 4th match of the ODI series the Aussies batted first and posted a challenging total of 275 runs on the board for West Indies to chase. Megan Schutt picked up all her four wickets by dismissing the middle-order batters of the West Indies team including the crucial wickets of Deandra Dottin and Merissa Aguilleira. Eventually, the hosts won the match by a convincing margin of 148 runs.

2. 4/26 vs England, 2017

Another 4-wicket haul for Megan Schutt but this one against the arch-rivals England in 2017. It was the second match of the ODI series where Schutt displayed her impactful bowling skills to prevent the opposition from completing the run chase. Batting first Australia had made 296 runs but the English team could not get even close to that total. The bowling attack led by Megan Schutt bowled England out for a low score of 209 runs.

3. 4/32 vs New Zealand, 2021

This bowling spell, like the previous ones, led Australia to a one-sided victory. Meg Lanning won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first. The Australian team gave early blows to the Kiwis which did not let the visitors settle in the match. Schutt was the pick of the bowlers for the Kangaroos with four wickets to her name and played a crucial role in restricting New Zealand to 212 runs in the first innings. She was also awarded the player of the match for an outstanding bowling performance.
