Top 3 bowling performances of Hasan Ali in Test Cricket

Hasan Ali might have made his name in the white ball formats, but that doesn’t take away the fact that he is more than skilled with the red ball. The 30-year-old can bowl all day at decent speeds and is also a deadly exponent of the reverse swing.

The right-arm pacer made his Test Debut for Pakistan during the 2017 tour of West Indies in the final Test match of the series. This was also the final ever Test for the iconic duo Misbah Ul Haq and Younis Khan. Hasn Ali went wicketless in the 1st innings but got 3 scalps in the 2nd innings which included Shai Hope and Jason Holder.

In 24 Tests that Hasan Ali has played for Pakistan, the seamer has already picked 80 wickets. His best figures of 5/27 are one of the 6 fifers he has picked in the longest format of the game. Hasan Ali also picked one ten-wicket haul in the game which came against South Africa.

Tom Latham and Jeet Raval were his first two wickets before he got the big wicket of Ross Taylor. The fifer came when Hasan Ali got rid of Ish Sodhi and Trent Boult to end the Kiwi innings at 249 to give Pakistan a target of 176. The Pakistanis fell short by 4 runs as the Kiwi’s bowlers stole a win from the jaws of defeat.

This was the game where Ali recorded his only ten-fer in Test cricket. In the first innings, Hasan Ali picked 5/54 with Dean Elgar falling to Hasan Ali for 15 caught by Mohammad Rizwan. The rest of the players were all bowled as the ball swung in late giving a good account of his talents with the old ball.
