Deepak Chahar is one of the best bowlers of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who has been with the franchise for a really long time. He has been an integral part of the CSK squad in recent times. However, he has missed out on some matches due to injury. He has also represented India in ODIs and T20Is and taken ample wickets. Because of his injury, he failed to stay consistent and lost his place in the team. Moreover, he has a perfect pace, including line and length, which helps him take wickets consistently.
Let’s discuss the top three bowling performances of Deepak Chahar in IPL:
1. 4 wickets vs PBKS
Deepak Chahar’s best performance came against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2021 when he claimed four wickets by giving away just 13 runs. Thanks to his fantastic spell, PBKS scored only 106 runs in the first innings. CSK won the game quite comfortably in the second innings with six wickets and 26 balls remaining. Chahar won the Player of the Match award for his 4-wicket haul.
2. 4 wickets vs KKR
His next best performance was against KKR in the year 2021 only. CSK won the game by just 18 runs, even after scoring 220 runs in the first innings. KKR’s batters took the game to the last over but still failed to win the match because of Chahar’s bowling. He claimed a 4-wicket haul, which helped CSK win the game. Faf du Plessis was awarded the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 95 runs off 60 balls.
3. 3 wickets vs SRH
Against SRH, Deepak Chahar claimed three wickets, which became his third-best performance in the IPL tournament. CSK scored 182 runs in the first innings, but SRH was about to win the game. However, Chahar’s bowling stopped them from winning the match and hence, lost the game by just four runs.
