There have been many all-rounders who have impressed us in the New Zealand team. The likes of Richard Hadlee and Daniel Vettori are some of the top names in this list who have given great performances for their side. This is the reason now there are a lot of great potential all-rounders in the Kiwi squad we all are looking forward to even today. We will be talking about one such all-rounder who had a lot of high expectations as well.
One of the all-rounders who had the same level of expectation and was looking forward to having a great career after some great numbers in first class and List A career was Andre Adams. Adams might not have had the best of time at the international level but has still had some great bowling performances in his career. It is safe to say that he has still had some great performances despite his short-lived career.
So, here are the top 3 great bowling spells of Andre Adams in ODI’s:
3. 4/44 vs West Indies in 2003
This was a game where there was a need for a great bowling performance from the Kiwis after a bit of a struggle with the bat managing only 241 in the World Cup match vs West Indies. This is where Andre Adams came into the second innings and delivered a match-winning spell of 4/44 in 9.4 overs to make sure the mighty Caribbean batting lineup did not chase down the target at all.
2. 4/21 vs India in 2003
The 7th ODI match against India is where we saw another great performance from Adams as this was supposed to be one of his challenging games against a powerful Indian batting lineup. But it turns out he was up to the challenge as he went on to take another 4-fer that restricted India to just 122 in the end. Adams finished with figures of 4/21 in just 8.4 overs and was once again the best bowler for New Zealand on the day.
1. 5/22 vs India in 2003
If you thought that was the best performance of Adams in this series against India, we all saw something even more exceptional in the 4th ODI, where Adams went on to take his first fifer in this match and once again decimated the Indian innings to just 122. This was once again one of the matches where the powerful Indian batting lineup faced the wrath of the pacer who ended up with figures of 5/22 in just 8.4 overs. This is where we saw the great potential in Adams which should have been nurtured for the future.
