The cricketing world has certainly seen a lot of changes in recent times with new rules certainly being added to the game and it will be no mistake to say that the English side have adapted to the changes.
The two-time World Champions have over the years produced quality bowlers who have treated the fans with their tremendous skills. Lets us now look at the Top 3 bowling performances by England players on their T20I debut;
3. 4/24 – Jon Lewis vs Australia at Southampton in 2005
John Lewis has been the consistent county wicket-taker with his skiddy medium-paced away swingers, seemed destined to be a no-cap wonder after frequently being called up by England only to be left out at the last minute.
It was in his debut match against Australia when Lewis demolished the Australians with four wickets getting through the essential wickets of Symonds, Clarke, and Ponting for ducks. It was by far the best performance for any English player.
2. 3/15 – Richard Gleeson vs India at Birmingham in 2022
Richard Gleeson was one such player who showed great potential in the domestic T20 leagues and did not have a long International career. At the age of 34, Gleeson made his debut in international cricket and quickly got rid of Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.
He ended the match with a figure of 3/15 against the Indian team at Birmingham in the year 2022.
1. 3/16 – Darren Gough vs Australia at Southampton in 2005
Darren Gough was known for his extroverted style in which he played his cricket. Gough was also regarded to be England’s best strike bowler after the likes of Bob Willis and Ian Botham but due to a knee injury which happened prior to Ashes series in 2002-03, he was later forced to retire.
It was in his debut match against Australia, where Gough registered a figure of 3/16 playing at Southampton in 2005.
