The 21-year-old, Naseem Shah, has become a regular feature in the Pakistan team in all formats of the game. He made his debut in Test cricket at a very young age and it did not take him too long to cement his place in the squad. In this article, we will take a look at Naseem Shah’s top 3 performances in Test cricket.
1. 5/31 vs Sri Lanka, 2019
This is the only 5-wicket haul that Naseem Shah has achieved so far in his Test career. The youngster picked up these wickets against Sri Lanka in the second match of the Test series in Karachi. After a poor batting effort in the first innings, Pakistan recovered and made a comeback to post a massive target of 476 runs on the board for Sri Lanka to chase in the second innings. The task was already uphill for the chasing side and Naseem Shah piled on the misery with his lethal show with the ball. His 5 wickets caused a collapse which eventually resulted in a comfortable victory for Pakistan.
2. 4/26 vs Bangladesh, 2020
Here is another brilliant bowling spell in home conditions for Naseem Shah. Against Bangladesh, the young fast bowler produced a match-winning performance to bamboozle the opposition. Pakistan took a huge lead at the end of the first innings and that advantage was widened by Naseem’s spell which guided Pakistan to a dominant win. He dismissed the likes of Mahmudullah and Najmul Hossain Shanto among others which left Bangladesh in tatters.
3. 4/58 vs Australia, 2022
Unlike the previous two performances, this one came against a much stronger opposition. The 21-year-old fast bowler took 4 wickets against Australia in the third match of the Test series at Lahore. The match was won by the visitors but Naseem Shah’s bowling spell kept his team in the contest. These wickets were taken in the first innings of the match which helped Pakistan restrict Australia to a total below 400 runs.
